A son’s tribute
Dad, thank you for letting me share this day.

“It was an honor to walk beside you.”
Follow our journey🇺🇸 On Saturday October 10th, 2026 I had the honor of accompanying my dad, Terry, on his Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Being beside him as his service was recognized is something I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.
To the entire Stars and Stripes team: thank you. Your care, kindness, and dedication made Dad and every veteran feel appreciated. It was wonderful to spend the day with people who put so much heart into honoring those who served.
From the incredible welcome at Dulles and the Fairfax County police escort to the memorial visits and the welcome home, we felt that gratitude throughout the day. Seeing Dad read his mail call letters at the end of the day was one of the moments I’ll carry with me forever.
The Alpha and Bravo flights on October 10th, 2026 brought the organization’s total to 11,500 veterans taken to Washington, D.C. since its inception. What an extraordinary tribute to their service.
If you know a Korean War or Vietnam veteran who hasn’t taken an Honor Flight, please help them apply. With so few of our WWII veterans still with us, we’re reminded how precious these opportunities are. Our remaining WWII veterans deserve this honor, too. Please don’t put it off.
The trip is provided at no cost to eligible veterans. Help someone you love take that first step:
